Sharon Acker Dies At 87; Actress For ‘Perry Mason’ And ‘Point Blank’

Actress Sharon Acker died March 16 in a residential home in Toronto at age 87. Her death was confirmed by her daughter, Kim Everest.

Acker’s career extended between film, television, and the stage. She’s most well-recognized for her role as Lee Marvin’s wife in 1967’s Point Blank, and her other film credits include earlier films Lucky Jim and 1969’s Don’t Let the Angels Fall. During that year, she was also selected as the Motion Picture Exhibitors of Canada’s choice for Film Star of Tomorrow.

Her career took off in 1956 when she played Mrs. Stacey on the CBC adaption of Anne of Green Gables. She joined the Stratford Shakespeare Festival following that performance, taking on the role of Anne Page in the production of The Merry Wives of Windsor. Her time on television included the CBS adaptation of Executive Suite in the 1970s and the 1973 reboot of Perry Mason.

Acker’s most recent foray into the film was in 1981 in horror film Happy Birthday to Me. In 1992, she made her final television appearance on The Young and the Restless. Acker retired from acting two years later, in 1994.

Sharon Acker is survived by her children, Kim and Gillian; a granddaughter and great-granddaughter; and two stepchildren.
