After a number of delays, the highly anticipated showdown between two roaring sequels came to a close. The Devil Wear’s Prada 2 claimed the crown once again for its sophomore outing and despite entering the ring, Mortal Kombat 2 couldn’t hold its own. The Devil Wears Prada 2 brought home 43 million for its first place finish, beating MK2 by 3 million, with the latter slotting into 2nd with 40 million for its premiere.
Michael moon walked into third place in its third week with 35 million. The film beat out newcomer Sheep Detectives, which only brought home 14.9 million for its fourth place finish. Billie Eilish: Hit Me Hard & Soft rounds out the top five finishing with 8 million for another successful concert film theatrical run for musicians. Super Mario Galaxy movie took home sixth place with 6.3 million after six weeks in theaters, knocking Project Hail Mary down to seventh in its eighth week which brought home 6 million.
Hokum dropped to eighth place in its second weekend with only 3.5 million. Finishing off the top 10 was Deep Water in ninth with 784 thousand and Animal Farm in tenth with 663 thousand all in their second week.
