See-Saw Films Appoints M&A Specialist For Investment Or Sale

UK-Australian film and television production company See-Saw Films has appointed an advisor to explore options for a sale or investment.

The company, known for producing Heartstopper, Slow Horses and Sweetpea, is working with investment bank ACF to review strategic options, as first reported by UK trade outlet Broadcast. According to Deadline, See-Saw’s decision comes amid increasing industry interest.

See-Saw Films recorded $158.8 million in revenue for the financial year ending June 30, 2023, with a profit of approximately $5.8 million, as reported in UK Companies House filings. This revenue figure excludes overseas income.

Industry sources suggest substantial interest in See-Saw, which has demonstrated stability and growth as a prominent independent studio. Potential buyers include All3Media, whose CEO Jane Turton indicated the company’s interest in scripted acquisitions. Banijay UK, which acquired Caryn Mandabach Productions earlier in 2024, may also be considering further deals. Additionally, BBC Studios, which had a first-look deal with See-Saw, and ITV Studios are both seen as possible bidders.

See-Saw Films is renowned for its Academy Award-winning film The King’s Speech, BBC drama Top of the Lake and the Oscar-nominated Lion. More recent projects include the Emmy-winning Slow Horses and Netflix’s Heartstopper.

Founded in 2008 by Ian Canning and Emile Sherman, See-Saw continues to be a key player in independent film and television production.
