Coming away from the Tribeca Film Festival with the Audience Award for narrative feature was Felix Thompson’s coming-of-age tale King Jack. The story follows Jack, a hardened 15-year-old living in a rundown rural town. Over the course of a hot summer weekend, he is forced to watch over his younger cousin while dealing with his own problems of an ongoing feud with a local bully and the impending doom of summer school. Jack comes face-to-face with lessons of friendship, family, and finding happiness within unfortunate circumstances.
The indie drama was written and directed by Felix Thompson in his feature film debut. It stars Charlie Plummer (TV’s Boardwalk Empire) as Jack, with a supporting cast that includes Christian Madsen (Divergent), Danny Flaherty (TV’s The Americans), as well as newcomers Cory Nichols, Erin Davie, and Chloe Levine.
