Script2Comic New Sponsor Is Japanese Publisher Kodansha

Script2Comic Contest, a competition series that turns screenplays into comic books, has gotten a new sponsor. The sponsor is international Japanese publisher Kodansha, known for their iconic manga series Attack on Titan, Ghost and the Shell, and Akira. 

 This is an impressive win for Script2Comic and the competition participants. Thanks to the partnership, those who participated have a chance for the screenplays2 to turn into a Manga that could be made into an animated series. Kodansha is looking for new talent, and the Scrip2Comic Contest is the perfect platform to partner with to find these emerging talents. This partnership has the potential to help get diverse types of comics and animation out to the public consumers. 

 The founder of Script2Comic, Don Handfield, known for producing The Founder and Knightfall, stated, “Joining forces with Kodansha is a landmark moment for us. Their legacy in manga and commitment to storytelling excellence aligns perfectly with Script2Comic Contest’s vision.” According to the founder, manga has outperformed traditional comics in the United States and worldwide.  

The contest’s past winners have done well for themselves. She Bites is being optioned by Westbrook Studios, and Trance will be in the works as a mystery series for Prodigal Entertainment. The 2024 contest is open and accepting entries, and the judges for this year are Sony Television’s Jeff Frost, Bristol Circle Roosevelt Brown, Zero Gravity’s Eric Williams, Cop Shop Tai Duncan, and Westbrook Studio’s Fidan Manishirova.
