‘Scream’s Next Sequel Gets a Release Date

It looks like the infamous Woodsboro Killer will return in another entry into the Scream franchise. The sequel to the 2022 entry in the series has been greenlit and a release date has been set for March 31, 2023. The latest Scream managed to relaunch the franchise when it opened earlier this year. It was a bit of a reboot of sorts, with our characters returning to Woodsboro as a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask. Paramount and Spyglass media produced the film and as of now it has grossed $62.6 million domestically and $106.7 million globally, which is impressive among pandemic films as the budget was only $25 million.

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will be returning to direct the new entry, with James Vanerbilt from Murder Mystery and Zodiac and Guy Busick from Ready or Not and Castle Rock co-writing the screenplay. Principal photography is currently slated to begin over this summer and plot details are being kept under wraps.
