Schwarzenegger Portrays a Grieving Father in Upcoming ‘Aftermath’

On July 1, 2002, two airliners (one passenger aircraft and a cargo plane) collided with each other causing 71 souls to be lost over a small German town called Uberlingen. An investigation later reveals that the Swiss Air Traffic Controller and Traffic Avoidance System where the reason to blame for the deadly crash. The film Aftermath stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as Viktor which is based on Vitaly Kaloyev, a father who lost his wife and two children in the passenger airliner.

Directed by Elliott Lester (BlitzLove is the Drug) the trailer for the film shows us a deeply distraught Schwarzenegger who is trying to cope with the sudden loss of his family. He wants answers as to who is responsible for this tragic accident. Not only was it his family that he lost, but forty-five school children on a school trip where also lost.

Produced by Darren Aronofsky’s production company Protozoa Pictures and featuring Scoot McNairy (Batman vs. Superman Dawn of Justice), Maggie Grace (Taken Trilogy), and Mariana Klaveno (True Blood) the film appears to be a compelling drama that details the struggle of a father who has lost everything in life and his determination to find answers to which he seeks. The film will be released on April 7th.

Rick Rice: A kid at heart who has loved watching movies from a very young age. Credit must be given to Siskel and Ebert whose film reviews educated me on the world of film inspired me to become a writer myself. I love to read books that range from various topics, copious amounts of research is something that excites me and of course sitting in a movie theater is a highlight of my life. When I'm not watching movies or reading I enjoy listening to foreign music and working hard on finishing my short stories. Currently working on my degree in English with a plan to enroll into Film School with the dream of becoming a screenwriter and director.
