Sacha Baron Cohen Announces that He is Retiring His Borat Character

Actor and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen has just announced that he will be retiring his famous character Borat. The character of Borat is an exaggerated parody of Kazakhstani journalist that has appeared in a lot of Baron Cohen’s work over the year. Of course Borat’s is most well known for his two movies the 2006 movie Borat and the recent 2020 movie Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. As Borat Baron Cohen would interview and interact with people around the United States and film their reactions to his bizarre and offensive behavior.

Now Movie Web has just reported that Baron Cohen will not be reprising his role as Borat at least in the for seeable future. Baron Cohen had trouble making the second movie because Borat was super recognizable, and the huge success of the movies could make it impossible for Baron Cohen to continue Borat’s antics.

Baron Cohen has explained that he reprised his role as Borat in response to Trump, but now he believes there is no longer a need for a character like Borat. It unknown if the recent assault on Capital Hill affected Baron Cohen’s decision to retire from the character. At this time it cannot be said that Borat’s retirement, and the attack on the capital are related.
