Ryan Reynolds has killed Green Lantern again. Kind of.
Rumors were swirling that every single DC property would somehow tie back into Zack Snyder’s Justice League, including huge cameo at the end of The Snyder Cut, which premieres in theaters and on HBO Max in a little under a month.
Fans speculated that the cameo would be none other than Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as Hal Jordan from 2011’s Green Lantern. However, Ryan Reynolds himself has stomped out those flames.
Reynolds also took a jab at Green Lantern in 2018’s Deadpool 2, where Deadpool literally kills Ryan Reynolds, after the actor finishes reading the script for the 2011 Hal Jordan film.
Green Lantern also starred a surprising amount of heavy weights, including director and writer Taika Waititi, Temuera Morrison, and Angela Bassett. The film got mixed to negative reviews, and while it set up for a sequel, has had little to no activity from Warner Bros.
However, Green Lantern is certainly a popular superhero, and after the success of random Marvel comic characters such as Groot and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, it will be amazing to see a Green Lantern in all its glory. Whether that be Hal Jordan, John Stewart, or some other popular Lantern.
Though it will not be Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern.
All things aside, Zack Snyder’s Justice League being made in the first places means anything is on the table at Warner Bros. So while a return to 2011’s Hal Jordan seems a little crazy, Warner Bros has spent a significant amount of time, money, and effort into resurrecting a seemingly dead Snyder cut of Justice League as well as Jared Leto’s Joker.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League is set for a March 18, 2021 release date in theaters and on HBO Max.
