Ever since superhero movies became popular people have been demanding to see more movies starring female comic book characters. Fortunately the success of DC’s Wonder Woman and Marvel’s Captain Marvel has incentivized studios to start making movies with superheroines as the leads.
We should expect to see even more superheroines on the big screen because Marvel is already working on a standalone Black Widow movie, and DC is preparing to release second Wonder Woman movie. Also there have been a lot of rumors circulating around DC recently about a possible Batgirl movie. Apparently DC is already searching for director for this upcoming Batgirl film. Christina Hodson, who was the writer behind Bumblebee and the upcoming Birds of Prey, has been tasked with writing the script for this Batgirl movie. The version of Batgirl who will be appearing in this possible Batgirl movie will be the alter ego of Barbara Gordon, who is the daughter of Commissioner Gordon. In the comics Barbra’s career as Batgirl was infamously ended when the Joker paralyzed her in Batman: The Killing Joke.
There are also some rumors surrounding the possibility of a Supergirl movie. Supergirl, or Kara Zor-El, is the Kryptonian cousin of Superman. However, none of the rumors surrounding Supergirl have been confirmed as of right now, but the Supergirl and Batwoman television series are still ongoing, and the Birds of Prey movie will be coming out in 2020.
