Ron Shelton Picked To Direct Gold Star Films’ Biopic ‘Escape Artist’

The 2017 AFM, or American Film Market, has been booming with a variety of films being purchased and announced. A new film, titled Escape Artist, is one of the more intriguing surprises to be announced. Not much is known about the film except for the selected director: Ron Shelton, known often from athletic-oriented stories like Cobb. The film is a biopic, which will focus on an FBI most wanted man, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Escape Artist, not to be mistaken for an indie film with the same name this year, will focus on the man named Ed “Hacksaw” Jones, who is one of the most interesting criminals in United States history. He committed a solid amount of felonies including illegal weapon transportation and counterfeiting, but he became known as “Hacksaw” for the not one, not two, not three, not four, but fourteen different escapes from custody he committed, earning him a spot on the FBI’s famed list.

We are very interested to see who will be selected to play the infamous fugitive. We hope to see a solid cast and some strong directing choices that we expect from Shelton. Production is set to begin in New Orleans some time soon.
