‘Rogue One,’ ‘Hail, Caesar!’ and ‘Passengers’ Among Art Directors Guild Nominees

Another day, another guild announces their year-end nominations. Today brought the Art Directors Guild to announce their choices for the year’s best in Production Design. Unlike the Oscars, which has one category for this craft (with only five slots), the Art Directors Guild provides three categories based on genre – Period Film, Fantasy Film and Contemporary Film – in order to provide honors to wider range. Many awards season regulars were honored by the guild today – including frontrunners La La Land and Manchester by the Sea – yet few outliers got some attention (hello, Café Society and the critical misfire Passengers!)

Winners will be announced on February 11th.
