Robert Rodriquez’s Machete Kills opens September 13, 2013, and it now has a trailer. The grindhouse/exploitation action film is the second in a series – Machete, Machete Kills and the future Machete Kills Again. Machete Kills boasts a star-studded cast and is packed with sensational violence, gore, sex and sneaky social commentary.
Danny Trejo returns as the revenge seeking ex-Federale agent Machete. Machete’s own hanging is interrupted by a phone call from the President of the United States (played by Charlie Sheen, using his birth name Carlos Estevez). Machete is recruited to battle his way through Mexico in order to take down a billionaire arms dealer (Mel Gibson) and a madman revolutionary who are looking to launch a deadly rocket into space, spreading war and anarchy across the planet.
Also starring are: Michelle Rodriquez, Amber Heard, Sofia Vergara, Cuba Gooding Jr., Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba and Lady GaGa in her first feature film role.
Robert Rodriquez and Quentin Tarantino brought the grindhouse genre into the mainstream with their 2007 film, Grindhouse, a term derived from the burlesque movie theaters on 42nd street in NYC where burlesque films, and eventually exploitation films, were shown.
