Robert Pattinson May Star as Batman in DC’s New Film, ‘The Batman’

While many of the details remain unknown surrounding Matt Reeves’ Batman film, Robert Pattinson is the first choice for playing the Dark Knight in his project. Talks surrounding Pattinson’s involvement surface amidst other upcoming Batman-centered films such as the animated feature film, Batman: Hush and Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix. Other stars that have been mentioned for the film include Armie Hammer, Nicholas Hoult, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Reeves took over the project from Ben Affleck who left his position as director for the Batman franchise and stopped playing the superhero himself. The film will now be based on Reeves’ own script. The director previously disclosed to The Hollywood Reporter that the film will involve “a rogues gallery”. The Batman will be produced by Reeves and Dylan Clarke who worked with him before on the Planet of the Apes trilogy.

Pattinson has been involved with smaller-scale films. His most recent projects include Claire Denis’ High Life and The Lighthouse. He will also be starring in Christopher Nolan’s unnamed upcoming film alongside Elizabeth Debicki which will open in summer 2020.

The Batman is slated for a theatrical release on June 25, 2021. This news was reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
