Actors Robert Pattinson and Ben Mendelsohn will both be reuniting with writer/director David Michod for Netflix’s The King. Pattinson previously worked with Michod in 2014’s The Rover and Mendelsohn worked with him on the Aussie television show Animal Kingdom.
Timothée Chalamet will be starring in the historical drama based on Shakespeare’s Henry IV and Henry V. He will be playing the disgraced Prince Hal who must learn what it means to be King while being guided toward other paths by his trusted friend, Falstaff. Joel Edgerton, who co-wrote the script with Michod, will be playing Falstaff.
Mendelsohn will be playing Chalamet’s father, King Henry IV, while Pattinson will be taking on the role of The Dauphin, a French duke. Also in the cast are Johnny Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose Depp, playing Princess Catherine, Hal’s future bride, and Sean Harris (Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation), playing William.
Production begins on The King tomorrow, June 1, in the United Kingdom.
Prior to its release, Pattinson will be seen in Damsel and the space epic High Life. Mendelsohn will soon be seen as the Sheriff of Nottingham in the latest Robin Hood.
