‘Revenant’ Writer To Script Tarantino’s ‘Star Trek’

The next Star Trek is currently in the works and Revenant screenwriter Mark L. Smith will officially begin to draft the next script, according to Deadline. The news came after J.J. Abrams and Quentin Tarantino announced that they will be producing the Paramount blockbuster with Tarantino rumored to also be both directing the film. Abrams will produce through his company Bad Robot as.

Paramount has produced 13 of the Star Trek films going all the way back to 1979 with the original Star Trek: The Motion Picture and the reboot in 2009. Tarantino’s proposed film will be R-rated, which the filmmaker fought for with the studio and was granted in a mostly unprecedented move. The Trek films, up until now, have always been PG to PG-13 and have been mostly family friendly. Tarantino’s version will take the franchise to its furthest reaches thus far.

More news will be revealed as is made available with casting choices and release dates.
