Relive the Horror of Camp Crystal Lake Again! ‘Friday The 13th’ Slashes its way back into Theaters!

Jason Voorhees in New Line Cinema's 2009 remake of 'Friday the 13th'.

“Fridays will never be the same again.” Especially if they fall on the thirteenth of the month. One of the most infamous and long lasting horror franchises is returning to theaters to terrify audiences once again- Friday The 13th! The reason why we were scared of spending the night at the camp grounds, or afraid to walk alone in the woods; you just never know who may be lurking in the darkness. Camp Crystal Lake is a place where no one is safe since a mad killer is one the loose and the camp counselors are the ones that are being stalked and killed off one by one.

Friday The 13th was a simply made slasher film that exploded at the box office and spawned a franchise of non-stop horror violence and gave us one of the most infamous killers in cinema history. But before we utter his name, we have to remember who the killer was in the film that started it all- Jason’s mother Pamela Voorhees (portrayed by the wonderful Betsy Palmer). The film was released on May 9 1980 and the rest is history. Although, it is rather ironic that it wasn’t released a month later- June 13, which would’ve been a Friday.

The iconic slasher celebrates its 40th anniversary by returning to theaters for a three-day run starting on October 4, 6 and 7. It’s fully remastered and restored making it look as good as it did when it first arrived in theaters. Tickets are on sale now so don’t wait!

It’ll be a chance to relive the glory days of the ’80s which featured corny music, bad acting by today’s standards and an ending that forever sealed the legacy that we remember the franchise for. Friday The 13th is coming to a theater near you which is appropriate being that Halloween is almost upon us. So grab any attire that’ll make you enjoy the days of going to summer camp because Camp Crystal Lake is the place that everyone is familiar with. Just don’t be a fool like Drew Barrymore was in Scream when she got the answer wrong as to who was the killer in Friday The 13th.

True fans never forget.

Rick Rice: A kid at heart who has loved watching movies from a very young age. Credit must be given to Siskel and Ebert whose film reviews educated me on the world of film inspired me to become a writer myself. I love to read books that range from various topics, copious amounts of research is something that excites me and of course sitting in a movie theater is a highlight of my life. When I'm not watching movies or reading I enjoy listening to foreign music and working hard on finishing my short stories. Currently working on my degree in English with a plan to enroll into Film School with the dream of becoming a screenwriter and director.
