Regina Hall has officially joined the cast of Lizard Music, the upcoming film from writer and director Benny Safdie. According to Deadline, Hall will star alongside Dwayne Johnson in the adaptation of Daniel Pink water’s 1976 novel, adding another familiar face to one of Safdie’s newest projects.
Deadline reports that the film is based on Pink water’s beloved children’s book, which follows a young boy who is left home while his parents are away. As he explores his neighborhood, he stumbles upon a hidden world filled with intelligent lizards, sending him on a strange and unexpected adventure. Like the original novel, the film is expected to blend fantasy, mystery, and coming-of-age elements.
While Deadline did not reveal details about Hall’s role, her casting marks the latest addition to the project as production continues to come together. Benny Safdie is writing and directing the film, while Dwayne Johnson is attached to star and produce. The movie also reunites Johnson with Safdie following their collaboration on The Smashing Machine.
Hall has earned praise throughout her career for balancing comedy and dramatic roles in films such as Girls Trip, Support the Girls, and the Scary Movie franchise. Her addition to Lizard Music gives the adaptation another accomplished performer as the cast continues to grow.
There is still no release date for Lizard Music, but Deadline’s announcement has already sparked interest in the project. With Benny Safdie behind the camera, Dwayne Johnson leading the cast, and Regina Hall now on board, the adaptation is continuing to build momentum as one of the filmmaker’s most anticipated upcoming features.
