Redbox has just announced that they will be joining the ever expanding world of streaming services. The video rental company is well known in the United States for operating their red DVD rental kiosks outside of stores and pharmacies. Now Redbox has launched Redbox Free On Demand.
According to Deadline Redbox Free On Demand is available on platforms like Roku, iOS, Vizio, and Android mobile devices and TVs. There are also plans to add the service to Google Chromecast, LG, Xbox, and Samsung as well. Cord Cutters News reported that Redbox Free On Demand will offer customers hundreds of movies for free with advertisements. Movies available on the streaming service include Trespass, Lord of War, The Illusionist, Haywire and Maggie.
Redbox has been expanding their brand lately. The company also released Free Live TV earlier this year. Free Live TV has 89 channels including Cheddar, Tastemade, Vevo, Conde Nast’s Vogue, GQ, Bon Appetit, Vanity Fair, and Glamour, Pac-12 Insider, Shout Factory, Mystery Science Theater 3000, FilmRise, Bloomberg TV, Reelz. Wired, Complex, The Design Network, and Funny or Die just to name a few of them. Also Redbox started Redbox Entertainment, which was the distribution company behind the much maligned movie The Fanatic.
It looks like the way people see movies is evolving.
