Rachel Leigh Cook will be returning as her character Laney Boggs in the gender-swapped remake of the 1999 film “She’s All That” according to Variety. Cook is returning to her original role starring alongside TikTok star Addison Rae who will be playing Boggs’s daughter Padgett Sawyer. The remake will how the same concept as the original film with a gender twist to it. This time around Padgett Sawyer will pull a Zack move and give Cameron Kweller, who will be played by Cobra Kai’s Tanner Buchanan, a makeover, turning him into Prom King material.
Along with these stars, Kourtney Kardashian will be making her film debut alongside her friend Addison Rae. Kardashian announced her role on Instagram last Tuesday. Lying in bed with Good American stiletto, the 41-year old is “studying” her “He’s All That” script. Then later, the film’s official Instagram page reposted the picture on their story with the caption “Introducing Jessica Miles Torres”, a new character to the story.
But this choice of casting is not the only topic that is bringing negative criticism to the film. Miramax, the studio producing the remake, almost had a COVID testing site be shut down to film “He’s All That”. According to The Los Angeles Times, the studio had a permit to film on the Union Station, a site people can go get tested at. Many online criticized the mayor and the city for the closure that would’ve canceled 504 appointments that day filming was supposed to happen. LA Mayor Eric Garcetti’s office was “unaware that the filming permit would lead to the closure of the testing site” according to the LA Times. With Los Angeles County having 532,730 cases, maybe now is not the time to close testing sites.
