Much like those from its contemporary in a galaxy far, far away, it looks like Star Trek fans are in an age of flourishing content. Along with the mysterious-plotted potential Tarantino vehicle, the franchise also has a new television show on CBS All Access, which has been receiving acclaim for its progression on the social sphere. Now, it appears that the films could receive an unexpected established director, creating a totally different dynamic within the movies.
This change would come from a new and unlikely team, which Deadline reports may just join together to create and produce the latest Star Trek film: J.J. Abrams and Quentin Tarantino! While Abrams has already deeply entrenched himself in the newer Star-titled films (ranging from 2009’s Star Trek to Star Wars: The Force Awakens to Star Trek: Into Darkness), he will still work as producer for the Trek movies, setting the stage for a potentially fascinating team-up. Though nothing is set in stone, Tarantino has the chance to become the newest addition to the line of directors creating the newer Star Trek movies. However, his position is conditional based on whether or not he can impress those at Paramount with his plotline. If this deal comes to fruition, Abrams will continue his role as producer (a job which he also occupies for Episode VIII: The Last Jedi).
Sadly, though, fans still have quite some time before they know whether or not Tarantino will take a seat on the bridge of the Enterprise.
