Project Hail Mary is getting 4k Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD release on August 11,2026. The new release will feature five deleted scenes, commentary from the director of the movie, Phil Lord, and a small film titled Earth’s Favorite Eridian. Pre-orders are available now on Amazon, with the collector edition being sold out as of now, which includes a SteelBook and a collectors’ booklet. The movie had its theatrical release early this year on March 11th and stars Ryan Gosling (Drive) as Ryland Grace, a middle school teacher who is selected for a mission to save Earth.
In an interview with ScaryMommy, Gosling had to say,
I think that’s what’s so special about this film, and why people are having such an emotional connection to it … it’s like we’ve been so saturated with dystopia in future narratives for the last decade to the point where it feels almost inevitable at this point. Then you have Andy sort of reminding us through his work that human beings are always making the impossible possible.
The movie is an adaptation of Andy Weir’s book of the same name, which is not the first of his novels that has been adapted into a film. Weir’s The Martian was turned into a film starring Matt Damon (Good Will Hunting).
