Prince Eric Has Been Cast in Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid’

After a long search, it looks Disney’s The Little Mermaid has finally found her prince, because Comic Book Resources just announced that the role of Prince Eric has just been cast. Earlier this summer, some rumors came out that former One Direction member Harry Styles (Dunkirk) would be playing the part, but eventually it was eventually revealed that the singer would not be starring.

It has now been confirmed that English actor Jonah Hauer-King will be playing Prince Eric in the upcoming live action remakeHauer-King is an experienced actor who appeared in the TV mini series Little Women, but is probably best known for playing the lead human in the movie A Dog’s Way Home. Hauer-King will be starring along side Halle Bailey, who is of course playing the titular mermaid Ariel. Currently it is still unknown if  Melissa McCarthy will be playing Ursula, and there is still some speculation surrounding Daveed Diggs being cast as the singing crab Sebastian. There is also rumor that Javier Bardem may be playing Ariel’s father King Triton.

This new live action version of The Little Mermaid is being directed by Rob Marshall. A live musical TV adaptation of the Disney Renaissance classic recently aired on ABC, but received mixed to negative reviews.
