Graphic novels have had various degrees of success on the big screen with Scott Pilgrim vs. The World definitely coming to mind as one of the most successful graphic novel to film adaptations. Another graphic novel is being adapted to film, and it has a strong team producing and directing. Fox is officially forming the team for Goldie Vance, a popular graphic novel that Fox aims to make into a film franchise, according to Deadline.
Goldie Vance follows the eponymous 16-year-old who works at a Miami hotel where she aims to become its in-house detective. She eventually gets caught up in the discovery of an international crime syndicate and begins her journey to stop it.
Rashida Jones has been tapped to direct and write the script for the first film, with Kerry Washington’s Simpson Street helping to produce the film. It will be Jones’s feature film debut as a director, and it will be interesting to see if and how she will bring her style of comedy to the script. We will keep everyone updated on future announcements including who will be chosen to play Goldie Vance and other actors and actresses that are selected.
