Pierre Coffin has signed with a talent agency for the first time in his career. The director, who recently directed the critically acclaimed Minions & Monsters, has signed with WME for representation in all areas. WME plans to support Coffin in his continued collaborations with Illumination and the Minions franchise, as well as expanding into live-action films in the future.
Pierre Coffin began his career as an animator, working for production companies such as Amblin Entertainment. Coffin has since co-directed several films for Illumination, including the first three Despicable Me films and the spin-off film Minions. Minions & Monsters was Coffin’s first solo directorial venture. The film has the highest Rotten Tomatoes score of the whole franchise.
Coffin has ambitions to move beyond the Minions franchise, stating he told Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri after Despicable Me 3,
I got to move on. I did my trilogy, my prequel — I’m good. I can help with the voices, no problem. But I want to move on.
Minions & Monsters is available to rent or buy on digital platforms, while the rest of the Minion and Gru features can be found on the streaming service Peacock.
