Four-time Emmy-winner Peter Dinklage will bring to life a new talking bear who is “mysterious and charismatic” in the animated film This Was Our Pact. The upcoming animated feature is based on the best-selling graphic novel of the same name by Ryan Andrews.
The story focuses on a young boy named Ben and his classmates. It is the night of the annual Autumn Equinox Festival, where the town gathers to float paper lanterns down the river. The youngsters made a promise to find out whether or not the legend of the lanterns soaring off to the Milky Way and changing into stars is real. Ultimately, they find themselves on an extraordinary adventure full of marvelous new sights and strange characters. They only have two rules: no one looks back, and no one turns for home.
The screenwriter of the Golden Globe-nominated Wolfwalkers and the Oscar-nominated Song of the Sea Will Collins, will write the animated film’s script.
“‘This Was Our Pact’ is a fantastic tale full of twists and turns, but at its heart is the relationships between the characters, and their developed friendship. We’re excited to capture the unique qualities of the book, in the visual style as well as storytelling — it is utterly captivating and enchanting,” Veteran animator on the project Ken Duncan said. “With Will Collins coming on as our writer, we know this will be a film that will thrill the many fans of the graphic novel and help Ryan Andrews’ wonderful work discover new audiences.”
Dinklage isn’t new to voicing animated characters. He previously voiced roles in The Croods: A New Age, The Angry Birds, and Ice Age: Continental Drift.
