Pete Davidson Teams with Judd Apatow for Semi-Autobiographical Comedy

Pete Davidson is gaining momentum in the entertainment world as cast member of SNL, stand-up comic, and now film actor. Big Time Adolescence, where he got his first leading film role, debuted this week at Sundance. His next project will be a semi-autobiographical comedy, which he will co-write and star in with director Judd Apatow at the reigns.

No plot or title information has been released yet from Universal, but production is slated to begin this summer.

Pete Davidson has been making headlines recently after his breakup with Ariana Grande, his openness speaking out about mental health, and his discussion of loss after his father’s death on 9/11. The film will likely touch on these topics and more, with the trademark Apatow humor.

Apatow is known for comedy classics such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up. Recently, he’s been writing and producing Netflix series Love. He brought comedian Amy Schumer into the film world with Trainwreck, which was also autobiographical and written by Schumer herself. It seems he will be doing the same for Davidson now that he has proven his acting chops in Big Time Adolescence, showing that he is ready to move on to bigger roles in bigger projects.
