‘Peaky Blinders’ Film In The Works According to Creator Steven Knight

BBC has gotten a ton of recognition for their hit TV series Peaky Blinders.  The series has gotten some great critical reputation, especially after it’s reception at the BAFTA awards, with the show gaining a ton of wins. With such a big reputation, some are curious to what is next for the big BBC series, and fortunately, creator the show gave a huge update on the series. As Steven Knight announced that movie is in the work for Peaky Blinders.

Knight announced that a series was in the works in a recent interview with Deadline Entertainment. He stated that, “Covid changed our plans. But I can say that my plan from the beginning was to end Peaky with a movie. That is what is going to happen”. This is to imply that production has changed for the series, but the initial idea that Knight had for the show is still going to be intact. The series, which is on its sixth season, was expecting to wrap up with a potential seventh season, but as mentioned, COVID has halted some of the production for the series final moments. However, Knight is implying that those plans might change slightly as some are expecting this new potential movie will serve as the final swan song for the popular series.

While the seventh season is still rumored to be in the works alongside with the movie, both are still expecting to generate a lot of hype with the series coming to an end soon. Not much else has been stated about the movie adaptation, outside of Knight returning to work on it and Cillian Murphy expecting to reprise his role as Tommy Shelby. Therefore not much is know if this film will be a theatrical or streaming exclusive. Though a film based on a popular and critically acclaim series will still generate a ton of recognition in its own way and with it being a potential finale, hopefully fans will be satisfied with the conclusions this series will go to.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
