According to Deadline, Patrick Wilson has been cast by Warner Bros. and director James Wan to appear in Aquaman. Jason Momoa plays the title character, and Wilson will play Aquaman’s half brother, ORM, also known as the Ocean Master. This DC film will be released October 5, 2018. Aquaman’s first appearance was in his cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He will also play major role in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
This sibling rivalry is somewhat akin to that found with Thor and Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, ORM is not just disagreeable but incredibly powerful. In the comics, Aquaman’s human half brother is staged to take the throne of Atlantis. There, he wreaks havoc on the seas and the land that lies beneath him when things do not go his way. Amber Heard, will portray Mera, the Queen of Atlantis.
This isn’t Wilson’s first foray into the realm of DC Comics – he previously appeared as Nite Owl in the 2009 film Watchmen, which just happened to be directed current DC kingsman Zack Snyder. Wilson was also at one point slated to appear in Ant-Man but that didn’t move forward due to scheduling conflicts. Wilson was seen recently in The Conjuring 2 and The Hollow Point, which opens this Friday. In addition, he has a supporting part in The Founder starring Michael Keaton.
