The Time Runner, a novella written by Michael Sherman, has been acquired by Paramount that Wes Ball will direct. The script will be written by Steve Desmond and Sherman. Ball will produce the film under his Oddball Entertainment banner with partner Joe Hartwick Jr. The plot of the movie is unknown at the moment.
Desmond and Sherman’s scripts have been selected onto the Black List three years in a row and most recently with an adaptation of Craig Davidson’s 2019 novel The Saturday Night Ghost Club. The writing partners previously wrote the script to Harry’s All-Night Hamburgers, which was purchased by Warner Bros., which they just adapted Paul G. Tremblay’s 2018 novel The Cabin at the End of the World, for FilmNation.
Ball is expected to be on board to direct the 20th Century Studios Planet of the Apes reboot and Mouse Guard, a live-action feature about a brotherhood of mice that have pledged to air their fellow mice.
Ball made his start directing short films like Jacob: The Movie, A Work in Progress, and Ruin. Ball is best known for his work directing The Maze Runner trilogy. The cast members set to join The Time Runner have not been announced yet, but more details should be coming out soon.
