The success of adapting Gillian Flynn‘s thriller novel Gone Girl, both critically and commercially, has made the author’s latest written work a hot commodity.
Expressed with a suspenseful-thriller tone, The Grownup, a short story by Flynn, focuses on a con woman using the act of Spiritual Palms and reading auras for her latest act of fraud. She then meets an unhappy but beautiful rich woman and sees this as an opportunity to score big. But when she visits the rich woman’s Victorian home, believed to be haunted, she realizes that a hidden evil may be lurking.
Deadline Hollywood reported that major studios Universal, Fox, Paramount, and TriStar are in a bidding war. The package included with the short story will have Natalie Krinsky (Gossip Girl) adapting the work, and Michael De Luca (50 Shades of Grey) producing along with Flynn. The studio’s were pitched earlier this week and the auction for another hit is underway.
