The news of their deaths shocked the entire world, with fans and celebrities all across the globe coming together to mourn Bryant’s passing and pay tribute to him.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, even the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has announced that they will pay tribute to Bryant at this year’s Oscar ceremony. The Academy has already expressed their condolences in a post on Instagram, which can be seen below. However, it’s well known that every year during an Oscars ceremony, the Academy does a special ‘In Memoriam’ segment that lists the names of actors, directors and other industry members that have passed away. It’s currently uncertain whether they’re planning on including Bryant in this year’s list of deceased talent, or if something bigger has been planned specifically for him.
While Kobe Bryant is, of course, best remembered for his basketball achievements on the Los Angeles Lakers, he’s also an Oscar winner.
