Octavia Spencer is possibly on her way to earning her second Oscar with her work in The Shape of Water as Zelda Fuller, and she has now officially joined a star-studded cast for a new comedy. Spencer joins Isabela Moner and comedian Tig Notaro as the newest actresses to join the cast of Instant Family, a new comedy by Paramount starring Rose Byrne and Mark Wahlberg, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Instant Family follows the story of a couple (Wahlberg and Byrne) who want to have children, which leads them to the foster care system. They bite off more they can chew when they try to raise three crazy kids. The film will chronicle the shenanigans of the new, instant family. Moner will be playing Lizzy, one of the children, while Spencer and Notaro will be playing social workers helping with the foster care process. The cast also recently added Tom Segura, Iliza Shlesinger, Julianna Gamiz, and Gustavo Quiroz.
The film is being headed by Sean Anders, the director behind Daddy’s Home. The script has been written by Anders and John Morris. The film currently has a release date of February 19, 2019, and we can expect a fairly modest opening weekend, judging from Anders previous films gaining moderate audience viewership.
