Oscar Isaac praised Guillermo Del Toro and their time working together on the director’s upcoming adaptation of Frankenstein, as “the most fun he’s ever had”, Screen Rant reports. On the heels of the filmmaker’s previous Netflix production, Pinocchio, the film aims to be faithful adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic 1818 novel, with Isaac as the titular doctor, Jacob Elordi as his creation, Mia Goth as Frankenstein’s fiancée, Elizabeth, and Christoph Waltz as Harlander.

A passion project for Del Toro, thirty years in the making, Frankenstein premiered at the Venice Film Festival in August to positive reception and currently has an 80% Certified Fresh Rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Now, Isaac has recently discussed his excitement for the project and working with Del Toro behind the scenes, saying,

“It was the most f*cking fun I’ve ever had in my life. Running around in the rain, up and down steps, this Christ-like thing on a crucifix, and Guillermo in the corner, screaming! It was hard to fathom that it was actually happening. It’s such dark material, but was approached with so much joy. Like 14-year-olds had keys to the kingdom – it had that kind of energy to it.”

Isaac and Del Toro seem eager to collaborate on future projects as well, with Del Toro announcing a new project with the actor in mind at the Toronto International Film Festival:

“I’m writing a project to do with Oscar…and it’s called Fury, and essentially it’s going back to [the] sort of thriller aspects of Nightmare Alley — very cruel, very violent. Like My Dinner with Andre, but [with] killing people after each course.”

Guillermo Del Toro’s adaptation of Frankenstein will receive a limited theatrical release starting on October 17, before premiering on Netflix on November 7.
