The Warner Bros. distributed horror picture boasts “one hell of a family reunion”. The official full-length trailer for Evil Dead Burn was released on Tuesday, promising the most horrific and gruesome entry in the decades-old IP to date. The franchise began in 1981 with Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead starring Bruce Campbell. Evil Dead Burn arrives 45 years later, but the violence inflicted by the Necronomicon or the “Book of the Dead’ is still very much alive.
The official trailer-accompanying description for Evil Dead Burn reads as follows:
“After the loss of her husband, a woman seeks solace with her in-laws in their secluded family home. As one by one they are transformed into Deadites—turning the gathering into a family reunion from hell—she comes to discover that the vows she took in life live on… even in death.”
The trailer opens with a family seeking refuge from a horrific accident that leaves one of them infected with the Deadite curse, leaving mutilation and terror in its wake. Other blood-curdling moments include everyday items such as a garden saw, candle wax, and kitchen utensils all used as weapons of violence.
The Book of the Dead is also seen making an appearance that suggests a connection to the 2013 “remake”, simply titled Evil Dead, based on the inscriptions found within. One character notes that if anyone read from it, the “devil would return”. Another connection can be traced back to 2023’s entry, Evil Dead Rise, as a character from its opening scene is shown to return. These threads suggest that a common through line is finally being weaved throughout the entirety of the franchise.
Evil Dead Burn will open in theaters on July 10, 2026. Watch the trailer below.
