Official Teaser Trailer Released For ‘Dune: Part Three’

Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atredies in Dune: Part Three

The first trailer has been released for Dune: Part Three, the third installment of the Dune franchise. While the first two films adapted Frank Herbert’s original Dune novel, this third installment is said to adapt the follow-up novel, Dune Messiah. The film is set to be the final film in the franchise, with the trailer stating, “Witness the epic conclusion of the Dune Trilogy.”

From this first trailer, we see that the film will continue from the events of Dune: Part Two, showing the Holy War started by Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atredies. The trailer shows the return of multiple characters from the previous movies, including Zendaya’s Chani, Rebecca Ferguson’s Lady Jessica, Javier Bardem’s Stilgar, Florence Pugh’s Princess Irulan, and Anya Taylor-Joy’s Alia Atredies. The trailer even shows the return of Jason Mamoa’s Duncan Idaho, a character who seemingly died in Dune: Part One. In addition, the trailer gives the first look at Robert Pattinson as the new antagonist, Scytale.

Denis Villeneuve is returning to direct Dune: Part Three after directing the previous two movies. The film is written by Villeneuve and Brian K. Vaughn. Greg Frasier, who acted as the cinematographer of the previous two Dune films, isn’t returning for Part Three, with Linus Sandgren taking over as cinematographer. Like the previous two movies, Dune: Part Three was shot primarily with IMAX-certified cameras and will be formatted for IMAX theaters. Warner Bros will release the film in IMAX and other large and standard-format theaters on December 18.
