A new trailer has been released for Shrek 5, the hotly anticipated installment in the Shrek franchise. It is the first mainline Shrek movie in the Shrek franchise since Shrek Forever After, released in 2010. It is also the seventh film in the Shrek franchise overall, following 2022’s Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

This new trailer offers a clearer look at the drastic shift in art style from the previous Shrek movies toward a more cartoonish look. Many of the characters also feature aged-up designs, such as Donkey, now sporting a goatee, and Furgus, Farkle, and Felicia, now being teenagers. The trailer also offers a glimpse of the film’s plot, which will take place in a setting called “Further Further Away.”

Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz are all returning to voice Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona, respectively. Zendaya is voicing Felicia, while Marcello Hernández and Skyler Gisondo voice Fergus and Farkle, respectively. Shrek 5 is directed by Walt Dohrn and Conrad Vernon, with Brad Ableson credited as co-director. The film is written by Michael McCullers, with a “story by” credit by Christopher Meledandri. Meledandri is also producing the film with Gina Shay.

Shrek 5 is set to be released in theaters by Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation on June 30th, 2027. The trailer can be viewed below:
