
During the New York Comic Con Violent Night 2 and Blumfest 2026 shared stage to show off the work put into the films.
The cast of Violent Night, including David Harbour (Stranger Things, Thunderbolts) and Kristen Bell (The Good Place, Veronica Wars), took the stage after an action-packed trailer screening to discuss the film’s brutal take on the Christmas movie genre. The panel spoke about different things in the film, which explored the film’s escalating action, its festive inspirations, and how Harbour has become the face of the franchise. As the team explained, they could not imagine making these films without him. The filmmakers drew inspiration from beloved holiday classics, including Die Hard and Home Alone, finding a way to pay tribute to traditional Christmas movies while turning up the violence.
Blumhouse took over as MatPat (Food Theory, Film Theory) opened the panel by asking the audience, “Who’s ready to get scared?” setting the tone for a showcase packed with horror announcements, exclusive trailers, and surprises. Blumhouse founder Jason Blum (The Purge, Get Out) took the stage and announced that Pat would be helping launch upcoming projects, including adaptations of indie games into feature films. One standout announcement was Amanda the Adventurer, which was described as “Dora the Explorer meets The Ring,” promising a disturbing twist on a familiar childhood-style indie game coming to the big screen.
The panel continued by celebrating the film Other Mommy, highlighting the lead actress’s performance and the comparisons fans have made to Coraline. The team explained that the film’s title was originally supposed to be Other Mother, sharing that the person who initially wanted a different title was ultimately outvoted
The excitement continued as the stars of The Backrooms appeared to share more information on the anticipated The Exorcist: Martyrs. The panel promised an exceptionally frightening experience, describing it as potentially the scariest entry in the franchise. The panel also featured a trailer for Rivers, followed by an appearance from its leading “final girl.” She encouraged audiences to experience the film with their friends, emphasizing the fun of sharing a horror movie together. She also discussed the physical demands of production, explaining how important swimming training was for the extensive water sequences.
Other films spoken about during the event didn’t showcase trailers or sneak peeks but instead had creators show up on screen to announce the release date for the films.
