The new film, The Family Disappears, will be produced by Fifth Season. Jonatan Etzler will direct the project, and of course two-time Emmy winner David Harbour and Emmy nominee John Cena will star.
The script was penned by Brendan O’Hare and is being billed as a thriller and mystery. The story will follow an overworked dad returning home from a business trip, only to discover that his family is missing and a mysterious stranger is now living in the home. While Fifth Season is the studio, attached producers include Nick Weidenfeld through Friends Night and Alexis Garcia through CAT5. This is not the pair’s first time teaming up, as they collaborated in the past to produce Friendship, a comedy from A24 that starred Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd.
Harbour was most recently seen in HBO limited series DTF St. Louis, following his long awaited farewell as Hopper in the conclusion of Stranger Things earlier this year. Fans of Harbour will not have to look far to get more of the actor this year, as he is set to star in Violent Night 2 and Avengers: Doomsday, both releasing later this year. Cena was seen on the big screen earlier this year in Coyote vs. Acme, and in Netflix’s new film Little Brother. Director Jonatan Etzler recently directed the critically acclaimed dark comedy Bad Apples, which starred Saoirse Ronan.
Fifth Season recently released the Netflix limited series East of Eden, which has since received critical acclaim and stars Florence Pugh. The studios’ next premiere will be Peacock’s The Good Daughter, starring Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy, set for release on November 12.
