Paul Mescal, who is known for his role as Connell in the Hulu Series Normal People, is set to play the anti-hero Alec Milius in the book-turned-film A Spy By Nature.
A Spy By Nature is the first novel in the “Alec Milius Spy” series written by Charles Cummings The first novels introduces the readers to the deceptive main character Alec Milius and his journey in-and-out of the British Intelligence. His work will lead him to work for MI6, where he mistakenly uncovers secrets about the oil industry that could cost him his life.
The upcoming spy film will be directed by Oscar-winning Director Kevin Macdonald. Macdonald is known for his directorial work on films, such as The Mauritanian, The Last King of Scotland, and State of Play.
The director spoke in high regards of Mescal, “I’ve wanted to make ‘A Spy By Nature’ for many years — and when I met Paul Mescal, with his beguiling mixture of intelligence, skill and youth, I knew I’d found the perfect star.”
Macdonald said that this spy film will be different from others and will be a modernized spy flick that is “sexy, dangerous, morally ambivalent.”
