As the hype for Logan reaches peak excitement levels with its theatrical opening, a surprise was tacked on in front of the film: a cheeky teaser for Deadpool 2. The tease – full of four-letter words and brief nudity and titled “No Good Deed” – has made it online, courtesy of Ryan Reynolds himself.
Ripping on old superhero tropes is nothing new for Deadpool, but this trailer exemplifies the anti-hero humor. We see Deadpool change in a phone booth while the iconic Superman theme plays ahead of him failing to stop a robber, all the while as a theater playing Logan is in the background. We even get a Stan Lee cameo, what more could you ask for?
The trailer was rushed to release after a leaked version made it’s way online, captured on a cell phone. While the initial leak looked bad for the studios, the reaction on the internet was nothing but positive, quickly becoming a viral phenomenon. If having a leaked Deadpool trailer sounds familiar, that’s because the first Deadpool wasn’t greenlit until someone leaked the test footage and naturally people loved it. So maybe not all leaks are bad, at least as far as movies go.
If you just came back from seeing Logan and can’t get enough of Fox’s super hero films, keep up with Deadpool 2. The sequel, directed by David Leitch, is set to hit theaters on March 2, 2018.
