Nick Jonas, best known as a co-founder of the band the Jonas Brothers and for his solo work in music, has joined the cast of Chaos Walking, a drama that is set to release in 2019, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He will be joining stars Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Homecoming, The Lost City Of Z), Daisy Ridley (Scrawl, Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Damian Bichir (The Hateful Eight), and Mads Mikkelsen (Rogue One, Casino Royale).
The story will focus on a dystopian world where all thoughts can be seen by every living being, including animals. The main protagonist lives in a city of all men, who grows up only learning what the men tell him. After discovering an important secret hidden from him, however, he decides to flee the town with his dog, meeting a strange girl. In order to discover himself, the protagonist must forget everything he has learned.
The film is based on a book by Patrick Ness titled Chaos Walking: The Knife of Never Letting Go, the first of a trilogy of books. It is being directed by Doug Liman, a juggernaut of a director known for his work on the Bourne films and Edge of Tomorrow. The screenplay is written by four different writers, including Jamie Linden (Money Monster), Charlie Kaufman (Anomalisa), Gary Spinelli (American Made), and Lindsey Beer. The film’s official release is March 1, 2019, and we’re excited to see what the film and cast can bring to the table.
