‘Nice Guys’ Actress Angourie Rice Joins Sofia Coppola’s ‘The Beguiled’

Young actress Angourie Rice, who captured audiences in this year’s The Nice Guys as Ryan Gosling‘s daughter, has joined Sofia Coppola‘s next project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film is a remake of Clint Eastwood’s The Beguiled (1971), the story about a wounded Union soldier who takes refuge at a girl’s academy in the South. While there, his presence sets off feelings of jealousy, lust, and hate among the women vying for his attention.

Rice will be joining an already stacked cast including Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning, and Colin Farrell. Coppola will direct based on her own screenplay adapted from the novel by Thomas Cullinan. Farrell will be playing the Union soldier with the female cast playing various members of the girl’s academy.

Since working with Gosling and Russell Crowe, Rice has not stopped to take a pause. She was recently cast in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and will also be appearing in the coming-of-age film Jasper Jones featuring Hugo Weaving (The Matrix) and Toni Collette (Krampus). Now, being attached to a prestige picture, Rice is well on her way toward a bustling career.
