News About Upcoming ‘Clueless’ Remake

Clueless was a 1995 teen romantic comedy starring Alicia Silverstone and a young Paul Rudd. The movie served as a modern retelling of Emma, a book the Jane Austin. A lot of teen movies have been based off of classical literature like 10 Things I Hate About You, which was a modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew and Cruel Intention, inspired by Dangerous Liaisons, a 1782 French novel.

Now, it seems that Clueless will be getting a remake, at least that’s what Deadline Hollywood claims. Paramount studios is currently working on a remake of the 90’s teen movie classic. The script has been written by GLOW writer Marquita Robinson, and Tracy Oliver is going to produce it. Currently there are no other known details about the project.

Previously, Clueless has been adapted into a Broadway musical, along with a lot of other famous teen comedies like Heathers and Mean Girls. It will be interesting to see another modern adaptation of Emma, and to see how themes like technology and homosexuality are adapted from the 90’s into the new era.
