New Trailer Released for Rian Johnson’s ‘Knives Out’ Post-TIFF

After making a huge debut at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month, there’s been a ton of discussion surrounding Rian Johnson’s newest film Knives OutKnives Out has been described as a modern day “Whodunit” murder-mystery, receiving a ton of critical praise after its premiere at TIFF. It’s noteworthy not just for being Johnson’s next film after Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but also for having a huge ensemble cast. Some of the actors included are Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Christopher Plummer, Jaime Lee Curtis, and Toni Collette just to name a few. A new trailer has just been released today following the film’s early word of mouth praise.

Knives Out takes place in the mansion of famous crime novelist, Harlan Thrombrey (Christopher Plummer). One night, Harlan Thrombrey invites a plethora of family members to celebrate his 85th birthday but, during the party, Thrombrey is found dead and every family member becomes a suspect. Now, it’s up to Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) to solve this mysterious case and figure out who killed the wealthy novelist.

The newest trailer showcases some more set-up to Harlan Thrombrey’s murder and Blanc’s inclusion within the story. It’s also more slow-paced and tenser compared to the first trailer. Regardless, Knives Out seems to be an engaging modern-day take on a classic genre and, considering it already has a 98% Rotten Tomatoes score following the TIFF premiere, this seems to be one of the major “must-see” films this fall. Plus, given the divisiveness of Johnson’s The Last Jedi, its very reassuring that Knives Out is looking to be a return to form for the acclaimed director.

Knives Out is set for release November 27th 2019. Watch the Full Trailer Below:

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
