The long-awaited trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse finally dropped four years after the original film’s release.
The film, directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson, brings back Miles Morales as he travels across the Multiverse full of strange new Spider-Men and Spider-Women. Here is Sony’s official synopsis:
“Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must re-define what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.”
The trailer showcases Miles sharing a heart-to-heart conversation with his mom, which then transitions into Gwen Stacy (Spider-Woman) pulling Miles into dimension with hundreds of different Spider-People. We are then shown Oscar Isaac‘s beefed-up Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Man 2099), giving Miles a beatdown. The trailer, unfortunately, does not provide much context as to why the Spider-Men would be fighting.
Returning Spider-People include Jake Johnson‘s lovable Peter B. Parker, Oscar Isaac’s Spider-Man 2099, and Hailee Steinfeld‘s Spider-Woman. Unfortunately, there has yet to be a word or indication that Nicolas Cage, John Mulaney, and Kimono Glenn’s Spider-People will make appearances.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse releases June 6, 2023. Keep it here on mxdwn for more Spider-Man news!
