New Trailer For Rob Zombie’s ‘The Munsters’ Drops

Rob Zombie’s first venture into the PG market has officially dropped its first theatrical trailer, showing an oddly warmer side to the gore-hound auteur. This unexpected family-friendly turn from Rob Zombie has been more than 20 years in the making, with Zombie having a massive appreciation for the series. His first hit single Dragula was a reference to an episode of the series, where Herman Munster builds and races dragster-style cars. That same episode appears in his first feature film House of 1000 Corpses in the background on a TV.

The film seems to follow the story of Lily Munster, played by none other than Sherri Moon Zombie, who struggles with finding love. Luckily for her, a Casanova-Frankenstein hybrid was built for her pleasure, in the form of Herman Munster, played by Jeff Daniel Phillips. The trailer takes all of the 60s camp aesthetics from the series and combines them in a cauldron to create a passionate love letter to the series. It sure is a unique take on the Rom-com genre. The trailer also nods to the history of Universal, showing an old production card that ran during the age of the Universal Monsters.

With the release of the trailer, it is now up to the full film’s release to see if it lives up to expectations. The Munsters is scheduled to come out sometime in September of this year.
