New Trailer for ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’

A new trailer has emerged for the highly anticipated graphic novel adaptation Kingsman:  The Secret Service.  The story, based on the book by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, centers on veteran agent Harry Hart (Colin Firth) attempting to take the wayward son of a former partner off the streets by recruiting him into a spy training program. Hart’s timing couldn’t be better, as soon after his recruit begins training, an evil tech genius releases a global threat.

Firth shows he’s more than a British gentleman, wielding gadgets with the aplomb and expertise of other Secret Service agents from long-running franchises. The story gives a nice wink and homage to the gadget-laden spy stories that have come before it, like the James Bond films and the British TV series The Avengers. Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Caine join Firth in this action-packed thriller.

An intriguing addition to the cast is Mark Hamill (hello, Luke Skywalker!) who was featured in the original comic as a fictionalized version of himself, but who appears here (spoiler-ish) as a character named James Arnold, calling into question how far the film adaptation will veer from the source material.  Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: First ClassKick-Ass) directs, from a script he wrote with long-time collaborator Jane Goldman.  The film is slated for a February 2015 release.
