The tweet features Jude Law, the actor playing the young version of Dumbledore in the film, announcing that the trailer will be released on Thursday. Law mentions that there will be some “backstory” to be revealed about his iconic character. Law then asks the fans of the series to share “anything Dumbledore related” for the trailer’s release.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will be the third film in the Fantastic Beasts series. The series of films are a prequel to the Harry Potter book and film series and serve to expand the Wizarding World. The film’s plot will revolve around Dumbledore attempting to stop a powerful dark wizard named Gellert Grindelwald, played by Mads Mikkelson, from taking control of the Wizarding World.
The first film in the series, titled Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was released on November 18th, 2016. The film starred Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander. Redmayne has appeared in each subsequent sequel. Law entered the series as Dumbledore in the second installment titled Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindlewald, which was released on November 16th, 2018. Dumbledore will be getting a larger spotlight in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore when the film releases on April 15th, 2022.
