The trailer for Amazon Prime‘s upcoming movie adaption of Cinderella has been released. Camila Cabello of Fifth Harmony fame will be starring in the lead role as the Princess Cinderella.
Besides Cabello the cast includes Broadway legends Idina Menzel and Billy Porter who will be playing Cinderella’s fairy godfather. Other cast members include Minnie Driver, Nicholas Galitzine, Maddie Baillio, Charlotte Spencer, and Pierce Brosnan.
The Cinderella fairytale has been adapted into movies many times. The most famous adaptation is probably Disney’s animated movie from the 1950’s, which was later remade into a live action movie in the 2010’s. The popular Rogers and Hammerstein musical version of Cinderella have been adapted into movies as well. There has also been movies like Ever After and Ella Enchanted, which are heavily inspired by the fairytale.
According to Movie Web the movie will feature some brand new songs for the soundtrack. Based on the footage that the teaser shows off the movie will be about Cinderella, or Ella, wanting to become a dressmaker. The teaser shows Ella pouring over sketches of dress designs and starring wistfully at a sign with her name on it. Also the teaser shows off the Billy Porter as the Fairy Godfather, the Prince staring at Ella from across the ballroom, and Cabello singing one of the songs. Part of a ball scene and some dance sequences are also shown in the teaser.
The movie will be released on Amazon Prime on September 3.
